Day 1: Maiden Voyage

Gently, gently... Easing out of the sling.
Let's not crash any boats on the way out.

"See the grass over there?"
"See the grass over to your right?"
"See the weeds there?"
"I see them."
"Watch the weeds..."
"I see them."
....
"I think we're aground."
*cue thrusters*

(Goin' aground Tim is my new nickname)

We made it onto the Intracoastal Waterway!

A pack-o-pelicans on the pier.

Through Snow's Cut. This was moments before we heard water splashing around in the galley...

It seems the water filter to the sink was not replaced after being removed for winterization. Yikes! No towels or buckets and a small role of paper towels, but the dustpan, trashcan, and a shirt did the trick!

Running aground is 1.
Bailing is 2.
Waiting for #3...

Navigating amongst the big cargo ships, errant sailboats, and crab pots lying in wait was a bit nerve-racking.

"Wait!  We need to slow down or something!
We're going to crash into that big ship ahead!

"No problem. Just pass him like 2 cars passing in opposite directions," said the skipper

Incoming drug containers.

The scale of shipping in the port of Wilmington is hard to comprehend.

This was the captain's favorite part of the port. He wants a shuttle like that for the Patricia Anne!
"Wheeeeeee!"

We made it! Home to the Cape Fear Marina!
...at least until mid-May, then we begin our trek up north to the Chesapeake.
